Public consultation on the Draft National Surveying and Mapping Policy, 2021; Draft Land Surveying and Mapping Bill, 2021; and Draft Land Surveyors Registration Bill, 2021

The Cabinet Secretary for Lands and Physical Planning appointed a taskforce to review of the survey sector policy, legal and institutional framework vide Gazette Notice No. 528 of January 29, 2021. The mandate of the taskforce is to align the sector with the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 and provide a framework to promote efficiency through adoption of international best practice amongst others. The taskforce has formulated the following documents:

  1. Draft National Surveying and Mapping Policy, 2021;
  2. Draft Land Surveying and Mapping Bill, 2021; and
  3. Draft Land Surveyors Registration Bill, 2021.

In line with the requirement for public participation and stakeholder engagement under Article 10 of the Constitution, the Ministry invites comments from all stakeholders and members of the public on the three (3) draft documents. The draft documents are available on the Ministry Website through the link: https://lands.go.ke/taskforce-to-review-the-survey-sector-policy-legal-and-institutional-framework/ 

Due to the prevailing global health concerns, the Ministry also welcomes any stakeholder who would prefer virtual interaction on the subject matter to notify the Ministry through the email address given below in order for the Ministry to prepare for such meetings. The virtual meetings will be scheduled as public forum and will take place between Wednesday, September 1, 2021 to Friday, September 10, 2021 starting from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
