CS Wahome, PS Korir Open Mogotio Land Registry, issue Over 1,000 Title Deeds in Mogotio

They also issued over 1000 title deeds to residents from Kapterit Adjudication Section and Waseges A Adjudication Section, further advancing the Government's agenda of securing land tenure and unlocking economic opportunities for wananchi.

Speaking during the event, Lands CS Alice Wahome said the new registry is expected to serve more than 20,000 residents, bringing vital land services closer to the people and eliminating the need to travel long distances to access services previously offered in Eldama Ravine.
She said the establishment of the registry marks a significant step in improving service delivery and securing land rights for residents.

"For many years, residents of Mogotio have had to travel long distances to access land services. That burden ends today. This registry will make services more accessible, efficient and transparent, while the title deeds issued today will empower families to invest, develop their land and create wealth for future generations," said the CS.

She further noted that the Government's Affordable Housing Programme will create employment opportunities for local residents while improving access to decent and affordable housing.
On his part, PS Korir reaffirmed the Government's commitment to expanding access to land services across the country through the opening of more registries and accelerated issuance of title deeds.

"Land ownership is a key driver of economic growth and social transformation. We are working tirelessly to ensure more Kenyans receive title deeds and have access to land services near where they live. Plans are already underway to establish additional registries in areas such as Mt. Elgon, Molo, Machakos ,Gatundu, among others" said the PS.

He added that the Ministry will deploy additional personnel and equipment to the Mogotio Land Registry next week to ensure residents receive quality and timely services.
PS Korir also expressed gratitude to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for its continued support in strengthening land administration and governance initiatives across the country.

Residents welcomed the opening of the registry, describing it as a transformative development for the area. 
Speaking during the event, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations FAO's Digital Land Governance, Program manager and team lead for governance and social inclusion Husna Mubarak thanked the Ministry for the achievement.

Mogotio Member of Parliament Reuben Kiborek lauded the CS for delivering a long-awaited service to the people.

"This registry is a game changer for Mogotio. Our people will no longer be forced to travel hundreds of kilometres in search of land services. Today marks the beginning of a new chapter of convenience, efficiency and development for our constituency," he said.

Mogotio MCA Smiring Sialo and County Commissioner Wesley Koech also welcomed the opening of the registry, terming it a major milestone that will accelerate development and strengthen land administration in the region
