Government resolves Cheluget land tussle, to issue title deeds to individual family beneficiaries
Narok, August 19th, 2026
The Government has finally brought the Cheluget land tussle to an end, bringing new hope to thousands of families who lived on the expansive farm for the last three decades with threats of evictions always hanging over their heads.
At a public gathering held at Kwalela Primary School in Narok South this afternoon, Lands and Physical Planning PS Generali Nixon Korir announced that the Government has now taken possession of the land and processing of title deeds for individual families living on the land will begin immediately.
"The resolution of the Cheluget land issue is part of the long list of historical land problems solved by the current Administration. I thank Narok Governor Patrick ole Ntutu and Narok South MP Kitilai ole Ntutu for the huge contribution they have made in the resolution of the matter," said the PS.

PS Korir invited Julius Cheluget, the son of the original owner of the land to confirm to the residents that they have settled the matter with the Government and have already handed the title deed. Cheluget's son also confirmed that the family has withdrawn cases they had filed in court for the eviction of the settlers on the land.
"I have been sent here by the President to inform you that we have delivered on the promise he made on the Cheluget land," said PS Korir.
PS Korir said the Government has also resolved the issue of Angata Barikoi land dispute and the issue of the boundaries of Mau Forest.
He said since the Government has issued the title deed for Mau Forest, caveats that were previously placed on farms near the forest but outside its boundary would be lifted in the next few days.
Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot thanked Governor Ntutu for working closely with the National Government in resolving the matter.
"Many governments have come but none have resolved problems that affect Kenyans the way President Ruto has done. Last night, we saw the President exposing those who have been circulating fake news about SHA," said the Senator.
Governor Ntutu said the resolution of the tussle that has existed for the last three decades was evidence that President Ruto is delivering.

He said Narok County has benefitted immensely from the current Administration.
He cited an international airport, plans for the SGR to pass through Narok, 90 kilometres tarmac road for each of the 6 constituencies as part of the benefits.
"I am happy today for the resolution of this matter. Today is a very historic day for us here," said the Governor.
Narok South MP Kitilai ole Ntutu said the resolution of the Cheluget land issue was top on the list of the promises they made when they campaigned for President during the last election.
The event was also addressed by Water PS Julius Korir and Emurua Dikirr MP David Keter among other leaders.
