MPs Impressed by Lands State Department’s Work During Ardhi House Tour
Lands and Physical Planning Principal Secretary Hon. Generali Nixon Korir today hosted members of the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Lands at the headquarter offices of the State Department for Lands and Physical Planning for an official tour aimed at gaining a deeper understanding of the Department's operations and ongoing reforms.
The Lands and Physical Planning Principal Secretary briefed Members of Parliament on the progress and current status of the implementation of the digitization of the land register at the Nairobi Headquarters Land Registry.
The Committee, led by Mugirango North MP Hon. Joash Nyamoko, key units within Ardhi House, the Geospatial Data Centre (GDC), the National Titling Centre, and the Survey of Kenya offices. The visit provided Members of Parliament with an opportunity to witness firsthand the progress being made in the digitization of land records and services, a key reform geared towards enhancing efficiency, transparency, security of records, and service delivery to wananchi.
Speaking during the tour, Hon. Nyamoko praised the State Department for the remarkable strides made in modernizing land administration through technology.
“What we have seen today is truly an eye-opener. The digitization process is impressive and has given us a better understanding of the investments being made by the Ministry. As a Committee, we will continue supporting these initiatives through budgetary allocations because we now appreciate the impact they are having on service delivery," said Hon. Nyamoko.
Committee Member Hon. Omar Mwinyi also commended the Department's efforts, noting that digitization is critical in transforming land administration across the country.
"We are impressed by the work being done. We will support efforts to ensure the entire country is digitized. The Ministry should also continue publicizing these achievements so that Kenyans can better understand the reforms underway," he noted.
On his part, PS Korir reiterated the Government’s commitment to full digitization of land services, stating that the reforms are central to improving service delivery and strengthening land governance.
"Digitization is transforming how we manage land records and deliver services. It is enhancing efficiency, reducing fraud, and improving transparency. We remain committed to ensuring a modern, secure, and accessible land administration system for all Kenyans," said the PS.
Also present were Committee Vice Chairperson Hon. Fatuma Jehow and Committee Members Hon. Mathias Robi, Hon. Leah Sankaire, Hon. Paul Katana, Dr. Gideon Ochanda, Eng. Thuddeus Nzambia,Hon. Rachael Nyamai, and Hon. Ali Wario.
