Joseph Gitari, with Members Hon. Rachael Nyamai, Hon. Omar Mwinyi, Hon. Josses Lelmengit, Hon. Irine Njoki, and Hon. Mathias Robi in attendance.
During the tour, the Committee visited the Cartography Division, where the country’s topographical maps are produced and made available for public purchase. They also toured the survey equipment stores, familiarizing themselves with the various instruments used in surveying and land measurement.

The visit further included stops at the Photogrammetry Laboratory, the Photolithography Section’s Printing Press, and selected units within the Cadastral Division, where quality control and assurance processes are carried out before the issuance of registration instruments such as Registry Index Maps.
The Committee stressed the need to upgrade key infrastructure at the facility to enhance land data security.
Following the technical tour, the Committee held a closed-door meeting with departmental heads, including Director of Surveys Weldon Maritim, Director of the National Land Information Management System (NLIMS) Monica Obongo, Director of Valuation Herbert Were, Chief Land Registrar David Nyandoro, and Director of ICT Leonard Maritim, among other senior officers from the State Department.

The Committee scheduled a follow-up official meeting for Tuesday at Ardhi House. They commended the Survey of Kenya for its vital role in surveying and mapping and pledged their support to ensure the State Department receives adequate facilitation to enhance service delivery.
