National Land Value Index for 30 Counties undergoes final touches before presentation to Parliament

‎The State Department for Lands and Physical Planning is finalizing the harmonization of the National Land Value Index (NLVI) for 30 counties, ahead of its presentation to the National Assembly for formal adoption.
‎The Director of Valuation, Mr. Herbert Were, who spoke in Naivasha where the harmonization process is being done, commended the officers involved in the exercise and encouraged them to pursue continuous professional growth.

‎“The National Land Value Index is a critical tool that will ensure fairness, consistency, and transparency in land compensation. We are committed to delivering a credible report that reflects market realities and upholds land justice for all Kenyans,” said Mr. Were.

‎The NLVI, developed after data collection, stakeholder engagement, and public participation forums, will guide compensation for public infrastructure projects, support investment decision-making, and strengthen budgeting. Once adopted, it is expected to reduce disputes and delays while ensuring fairness and alignment with market realities.
‎The 30 counties covered in the exercise include Machakos, Kirinyaga, Nakuru, Busia, Nyamira, Narok, Meru, Kilifi, Kajiado, Lamu, Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Kisii, Trans Nzoia, Kericho, Kakamega, Bomet, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Vihiga, Bungoma, Taita Taveta, Migori, Embu, Murang’a, Kwale, and Nyamira.
