Replacement of Lost Title/ Reconstruction of Land Register

Description: Replacement of a lost title or reconstruction of the land register is a legal process that enables the re-issuance of a land ownership document that has been lost, destroyed, or damaged, and the restoration of corresponding official records.

This process involves submitting proof of loss—such as a police abstract and statutory declaration - along with public notices in newspapers and the Kenya Gazette to prevent fraud or competing claims.

Once verified, the land registry either re-issues the title or reconstructs the register to reflect accurate ownership and property details.

This safeguards land rights, restores administrative integrity, and ensures continuity in land dealings.

Requirements: Application, indemnity form, police abstract, statutory declaration, newspaper & Kenya Gazette notice, ID/passport, PIN certificate, 2 passport-size photos.

Charges: Kshs. 1,000 + Title replacement fee Kshs. 2,500
