Mohammed A. Maalim M.B.S., ndc (K)

Mohammed A. Maalim is an astute public administrator with now 30 years of tremendous growth in the realm of public service.
The three decades saw him serve as a springboard to powerful and effective advocacy in various capacities in the Government of Kenya.
Throughout time, he has consistently left an indelible mark of prudence, success and growth of people and national interests.

Mr. Maalim was first appointed into civil service in 1992 as a District Officer Cadet, where he sharply rose through the ranks to District Officer 1, Senior District Officer, District Commissioner , Senior District Commissioner, County Commissioner and finally the top most cadre of Regional Commissioner, Rift Valley in January 2022 in line with the Ministry’s Scheme of Service for National Government Administrative Officers.

Due to his outstanding performance in line of duty, he scooped various prestigious awards and accolades, among them the Public Service Excellence Award 2019, initiated by the Public Service Commission to recognise and honor excellence among best performing public servants. This culminated to his decoration on Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS) by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya.

Mr. Maalim holds a Master of Arts Degree in International Studies from the University of Nairobi, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the same institution. He equally bags a National Defence Course from the prestigious National Defence College, Karen. ndc (K),Senior Mission leader Course from International Peace Support Training Centre,Karen among numerous trainings from Government Ministries, Departments, Agencies and bilateral institutions.

His current appointment as Secretary Administration, State Department for Lands and Physical Planning in February 2023 vested him the responsibility to run the administrative functions of the office in line with its broader scope of delivering the State Department’s mandate.

He looks forward to build a concrete administrative foundation in the department, that would lead to credible, reliable and measurable results. His wealth of experience places him in a premium platform to nurture a strong spirit of professionalism in the public service, that would inspire the intellect of fellow policy formulators, implementors and evaluators, while building strong pillars for interministerial cooperation and multi agency approaches.
