National Assembly Departmental Committee on Lands visits Kilifi Land Registry

Kilifi, November 23, 2024.

The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Lands led by chairman MP Hon. Joash Nyamoko today paid a visit to the Kilifi Land Registry which has been under renovations. The Committee visited the Registry as part of its Budget Implementation oversight.

The committee later held a plenary meeting with officials of the State Department for Lands and Physical Planning where they also discussed land ownership issues raised by communities bordering the Galana Kulalu Irrigation Project.

Some of the issues were also discussed during the 12th Parliament.

Secretary Lands Sarah Maina takes the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Lands around the Kilifi Land Registry.

“Let’s us agree that implementation is key, that we should find solution for our people who have suffered for many years,” said the Chairman.

Secretary Lands Sarah Maina assured the parliamentary committee that the Ministry is committed to find a solution to people affected by land injustices.

“The Ministry of Lands, National Land Commission (NLC) and Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC) shall consult and write a report giving a way forward for the implementation of recommendations issued by the 12th Parliament,” said the Secretary Lands.

The Secretary Lands was representing Lands and Physical Planning PS Hon. Generali Nixon Korir.

They agreed that the State Department will work with National Land Commission to find a long lasting solution.

Also present during the meeting was Director for Adjudication and settlement Kennedy Njenga, Chief Land Registrar David Nyandoro, Director for Planning Cyrus Mbogo, Director for ICT Leonard Maritim and the Head of Public Communications Jibril Adan.
