The Ministry of lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development has made considerable strides in conferring titles to land owners through the National Titling Programme.
Lands Cabinet Secretary Hon. Alice Wahome said this today at the Nairobi Radisson Blu hotel, when she led the Heads of Department in a meeting with Landesa, a land sector NGO, to discuss key areas for partnership on the ongoing implementation of the Community Land Act.
The CS said working in partnership with land sector players will boost the efforts to guarantee security of tenure for all segments of the population particularly the women, children, minorities, People with Disabilities among other vulnerable segments in the society.
Lands and Physical Planning PS Hon. Generali Nixon Korir thanked Landesa for their partnership aimed at improving service delivery in the state department.
Speaking during the meeting, Landesa Country Director Shadrack Ouma said they look forward to the partnership to strengthen land rights for Kenyan households helping to generate a long term impact on the country.
Landesa is an international non-governmental organization that fights poverty and provides opportunity and security for poor rural women and men through the power of land rights.
Next week, the CS and PS will lead officers of the State Department in issuing another 7,000 deeds in Nkubu also in Meru County.
