Naivasha, 29th June.
Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development Cabinet Secretary Zachariah Njeru has called upon the three State Departments to work together for ease delivery of the Ministry’s mandate.
CS Njeru said before any project is carried out, the State Departments must carry out due diligence and also involve public participation for a smooth operation with no doubt.
Speaking this morning while he officially opened the Housing and Urban Development’s retreat for Affordable Housing Agenda at Naivasha, CS Njeru said all the State Departments need one another for the delivery of the 200,000 units annually as committed.
Njeru emphasized on communicating correctly and efficiently for the housing agenda and more so the affordable housing levy. Furthermore, the CS said a communication Strategy from inception to project implementation, monitoring, and evaluation is very key.
“As you are aware, the Government is in full support of the Affordable Housing Programme (AHP). It is the high time we worked together as a Ministry and not State Department and ensure that we engage all other Stakeholders for a better delivery in our mandate,” said Njeru.
He noted that, the land digitization process is moving well since the engagement of the Law Society of Kenya, Institute of Surveyors of Kenya and Bankers Association of Kenya adding that it is a good progress for the AHP.
The CS reiterated the need to revise the 2017 Affordable Housing Program Delivery Framework in 2017, and strike out areas that have now been overtaken by events.
Also present during the event were the Secretary Housing Athman Said, Secretary Urban, Engineer B.K Njenga among others.
