The President of the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya Abraham Samoei today praised the Department for Lands and Physical Planning for its open doors policy and close cooperation with land sector actors.
Mr Samoei, who spoke at Ardhi House, said as President of ISK he had worked with three administrations and he can declare that professionals in the land sector feel better served now.
“I have worked through the past two administrations and we feel happy with the engagements with this administration,” said Mr Samoei.
He spoke in the company of the incoming ISK President Mr Eric Nyadimo when he came to append his signature on the agreement between the Government and land sector stakeholders on sectional properties.
The agreement was signed last week by the Law Society of Kenya and the Kenya Bankers Association.
The officials were also accompanied by the chairman of the Association of Registered Land Surveyors of Kenya Mr Abdulkhadir Khalif.
The surveyor’s bodies were attending a major conference in Mombasa last week but they gave consent for the signing ceremony to proceed.
PS Korir assured the surveyors that his department will always be available to cooperate with stakeholders to better serve Kenyans.
“I want to commit that we will work with you to serve Kenyans better. We will not engage in monologues and pretend to know everything, ” said the PS.
The PS said after the signing of the agreement, he will now issue a circular that will notify the public on when the deal comes into effect and when it lapses.
According to the agreement, owners of sectional properties have now been given a window of six months during which they can obtain title deeds. The moratorium temporarily lifts the requirements for getting apartments to have geo referencing before they can be titled.
