The State Department for Lands and Physical Planning has started digitizing land records in Isiolo Lands registry.

Meanwhile, digitization of land records is nearing completion at the Murang’a County as the State Department looks forward to roll out the same in Machakos County ( Machakos Township, Mavoko Blocks, Athiriver and Syokimau.)

Digitization of land records entails construction of an Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) for managing land title records including scanning, indexing, and archiving deed files among other digital operations. Then secondly, development of a cadastre (digital map that utilizes the latest survey and mapping technology where parcels are identified with their respective GPS coordinates and other identifying attributes.)

Lastly, in the digitization process is the transaction module of the system that integrates processes from technical departments within the Ministry. At the end of the process, among other benefits, digitization eliminates historical land issues like documentation loss, title duplication, missing documents and reduced time and cost of land transactions. Digitization also eases business operations and revolutionises land ownership.

The Kenya Kwanza Government is committed to see that all land records are digitized across the country.

The team digitizing Isiolo land records is led by Acting Lands Secretary Sarah Maina
