The Principal Secretary for Lands and Physical Planning Hon. Generali Nixon Korir on Thursday afternoon held consultations with the Commissioner General for Kenya Revenue Authority, Humphrey Wattanga Mulongo, to review the status of Integration of iTax with National Land Information Management System (NLIMS).

The integration of iTax and NLIMS is aimed at enhancing revenue collection, fostering accountability and curbing corruption.

Speaking during the meeting at the KRA head offices in Nairobi, PS Korir thanked KRA for its support in the integration process and assured that his state department shall work closely with KRA to make the integration succeed.

“Integration of iTax with the National Land Information Management System is very key in the digitization process. We shall work closely with KRA and provide it with information and data on Stamp Duty,” said PS Korir.

The KRA Commissioner General commended the State Department for its cooperation with KRA, adding that the integration process will allow KRA to have full visibility of land transactions at all land registries.

The State Department and KRA resolved to constitute a team that will be tasked to implement a work plan to finalize the integration of the ICT systems as a matter of urgency.

In order to streamline the collection of stamp duty, the KRA has recently made it possible for all payments for land transactions attracting stamp duty to be done directly to the State Department for Lands and Physical Planning through e- Citizen pay bill number 222222. Previously, stamp duty payments for land transactions were made through the iTax system and customers used to come to the State Department with the receipts for updating of their records.

The new arrangement now consolidates the process of paying stamp duty thereby creating efficiency and increasing accountability.
